Who we are
Garden of Oge is an Atlanta-based non-profit organization founded by Ogechi Nwoko MD MBA. Dr. Nwoko is a physician innovator with a passion for working on healthcare’s hardest problems outside of clinical settings. Garden of Oge was founded on the notion that improving urban infrastructure & availability of locally grown healthy foods represent key pillars to improving the health of communities.
What we plan to do
Atlanta, Georgia is known as the “City in the Forest.” In the 19th century, city officials planted trees to fight the spread of yellow fever. This urban forest backdrop is the perfect environment to introduce permaculture principles for the creation of food forests.
Garden of Oge plans to establish a community land bank with the purpose of developing multi-use urban green spaces. These green spaces will integrate food resources and sustainable growing practices into equitable park development plans to promote the growth of healthier urban communities.
